Gaunique L. Williams is a 29-year-old, Attorney-at-Law who practices mainly in the parish of St. Ann.
The first child for both parents, she was born in the community of St. D’Acre in the parish of St. Ann. She attended the Brown’s Town Basic school then went on to the Bethany Primary School. Upon completion of her GSAT at that institution, she was successfully placed at the St. Hilda’s Diocesan High School for girls.
After graduation, she enrolled at the Brown’s Town Community College in the faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. Whilst at this institution, she was a member of the Honour Roll for 2 years and was also the Law Tutor in her second year.
Upon graduating from BTCC she went on to pursue her law degree at the University of the West Indies Mona Campus and then went on to the Norman Manley Law School.
After completing law school she came back to St. Ann to work as she couldn’t see herself working in any other parish. (Despite colleagues jokingly saying that lawyers in rural areas are paid in yam and bananas).
She started her professional career at Zavia Mayne and Company where she managed the St. Ann office for two years. She currently operates her law office in Runaway Bay, St. Ann.
Miss Williams enjoys writing poetry and volunteering. She has volunteered as a mentor at the Women’s Centre in St Ann’s Bay and intends to establish a mentorship programme for girls in St Ann.
She has been a Commissioner on the Anti-Dumping and Subsidies Commission since 2016.
As an Attorney-at-Law, she practices mainly Criminal Litigation, Conveyancing, Family Law, and Estate matters. She is a strong believer in self-improvement and is guided by the motto “education makes one easy to be led but hard to be enslaved”. She aims to inspire young people to break the cycle of poverty, look beyond societal limitations, and dream big in pursuit of their goals AS THE SKY IS MERELY THE START.
