
Keisha Thompson
Chief Technical Advisor at the Commission, Senior Economist, Keisha-Ann Thompson, M.Sc. Economics
Ms. Thompson has a post-graduate Diploma in Management Practice (Trade Law and Policy) (Hons), University of Cape Town (2007). She has a Master of Science in Economics and a Bachelor of Science earned at the University of the West Indies, Mona, Jamaica in 2000 and 1997 respectively.
Having joined the Commission in 2001 as the first Staff Economist, and holding extensive practical technical expertise, she has been the economist on the majority of the Commission’s cases. Ms. Thompson has received specialised training in WTO Law and Practice, Trade Remedies and Econometrics and Economic Policy. She is currently pursuing her L.L.B.
In addition to her role as Technical Advisor, Ms. Thompson retains responsibility for analysis and reporting on substantive requirements for imposition of trade remedies measures, advising on legislative amendments and contributes her expertise to the formulation of Jamaica’s international trade negotiating positions. She spearheads the development of the Commission’s administrative, procedural guides and practice notes. Miss Thompson has researched, written and presented papers on trade and trade remedies issues at domestic and international fora, and has contributed articles to other agency publications.
Ms. Thompson led development of the Commission’s ground-breaking newsletter, Trade Gateway , and is a regular coordinator and writer. She plays an integral role in the public education function of the Commission, spearheading the development of training material, liaising with private and public sector organizations, and other countries’ Investigating Authorities. Prior to joining the Commission Ms. Thompson worked as an Economist at the Bank of Jamaica.
