International Trade Economist

Rochelle Wright

ROCHELLE L. WRIGHT

Ms. Rochelle Wright has been employed with the Anti-Dumping and Subsidies Commission (the Commission) since January 2010 in the capacity of International Trade Economist. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Human Resource Development in 2007 and a Master of Science degree in International Economics and International Law in 2009, both from the University of the West Indies, Mona.

Since being with the Commission, Ms. Wright has worked on two antidumping investigations, both of which are ongoing. She provides for the rest of the Staff and Commissioners the economic quantitative and qualitative analysis required for the accomplishment of the Commission’s mandate. Ms. Wright also monitors industry events both locally and regionally and has the responsibility of keeping the Commission abreast of developments in international trade which have implications for the Commission’s work.

Prior to joining the Commission, Ms. Wright completed an internship with the Economics Department of the Caribbean Development Bank in Barbados in 2008, which was organized jointly with the Department of Economics, UWI Mona, where she produced a CDB Working Paper entitled Regional Public Goods: Theory and Application in the Context of Regional Development Banks. During her period of study she also worked as a Research Assistant at the University of the West Indies.

In 2008, Ms. Wright was part of a team which produced Part One of the Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Policy Framework for the Target Growth Competitiveness Committee (TGCC) on Financing and Human Resource Development as well as Part Two of the Framework on areas including: the role of Science, Technology and Research and Development, Extension and Support Services, Networking and Clustering, Marketing and Legal, Administrative and Regulatory Issues, which was completed in 2009. In 2009, she was also a Part-Time Lecturer in the Department of Economics at the University of the West Indies.

Ms. Wright was a recipient of the National Commercial Bank/Jamaica Education Initiative Scholarship in 2006. Her research interests include economic development, micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, and international trade. She is a member of the Cathedral of St. Jago de la Vega, and a member of its Anglican Youth Fellowship and Choir.
